To add a personal touch to your gift, you can get a personalized label. Let me show you how to remove the bottle labels and apply your own. While it may sound difficult, removing the label from a bottle of wine is actually quite simple with a little patience and a couple of everyday household items.
Before you start labeling you need to select your bottles. Use this printable label size guide to make sure you are buying the right size wine or champagne bottles. When looking at bottle shapes, look for smooth bottles. You also want the straight part of the body to be taller than your custom labels. If the body is too short, you might find the labels will bubble at the top or bottom once applied.
Now that you have your bottles selected remove the label from your bottle
You Will Need: A sink or bucket, baking soda, a rag, magic eraser
FILL your container with room temperature water. Make sure your container is large enough so that the existing labels is underwater. ADD 5 tablespoons of Baking Soda to the water and stir to dissolve. SOAK for 30 minutes.
REMOVE the bottle from the water, and you should be able to pull the label off. Then wipe the bottle off with a rag. If any of the label still remains, use the magic eraser to remove the rest. Once the bottle is clean, wipe it with a towel and allow it to completely dry and acclimiatize to room temperature before applying your new label.
Now you're ready to apply some new labels to your clean bottles. Check out my selection of label designs that are ready for you to customize. A good trick is to lay the bottle horizontally, flat between your legs. This way the bottle won’t move around and you have your hands free to peel the wine label and apply it to the bottle.
Peel away the wine label and apply it to the front of the bottle, making sure to rub out any creases or imperfections. Apply any extra pressure to the label that is needed.
