Come. Sit. Stay. Play.

I have a new birthday party theme to share with all of you! I am so excited to show you some of the designs and details from my daughter, Blythe's 2nd birthday party. We picked cat and dog as the overall theme. Blythe's favorite thing is to go look at all the animals at the pet store and she loves our dogs, Stud & Zoey. So I thought it was a perfect theme.

If I am completely honest, when I was looking at the theme I was little nervous about it. But was I wrong! It ended up being oh so adorable. It's also perfect for any age and can be catered for both boys and girls, which can be a tricky thing to master when throwing parties for little ones!

First thing I always do is design the invitations. This gives me a color story and ideas for what I am wanting to achieve at the party. I designed these Dog and Cat invitations, that featured cats and dogs saying "Bow Wow, Purr, and Woof Woof" It's a Pawty, Aren’t they purr-fect? I try to set the stage for each birthday party. There are different focal points such as the cupcake table, food + drinks, craft table, ect. I was able to find these plastic dog bowls in all the right colors and knew the kids would love to use these through out the party.

I always like decorating our lattice out back. So for the dog and cat party I decided to included Blythe’s initials in yarn-wrapped letters to match the party colors. Here is a post I did awhile back on DIY wrapped Monogram Letters.

The Cupcake table—a party favorite! I stacked some of the dog houses and dog bowls and made a mountain for the cupcakes to sit on. I also did all the cupcake toppers that featured cats, dogs, 2's, and a paw print.

When guest arrived the kids where able to adopt a pet. Each cat or dog came with its own adoptions certificate, carrying case, and a food bowl. Each child could pick a cat or dog and name it right then and there. Then for party activities the kids were able to make a collars for their pet they just adopted. Various colors of pipe cleaners as well as many different beads were available on the craft table!

I hope you’ve enjoyed taking a peek inside Blythe's dog and cat themed birthday pawty! I've linked sources below, let me know if you have any questions. Shop this Party: Invites, Nicole Kelly Creations Stuffed Animals Dog Houses Dog Bowls Colored Beads , Letter Beads Pipe Cleaners
