Dressing for Fall (When It’s Still Feels like Summer)

Pumpkin spice lattes, plaid everything, the crunch of crisp fall leaves … wait, what? It’s October in Southern California—and 85 degrees out! The weather hasn't gotten the memo. How can you start wearing your favorite fall trends when temps are still topping 85 degrees?

This pretty much sums up my current state of mind, absorbed in everything autumn but conflicted because it’s still feels like summer. So here are a tips and tricks to help you transition from summer to fall and get excited for the upcoming season.

Focus on footwear: Even the most summery of dresses can be updated for fall look with a simple shoe switch. Swap your sandals for a pair of ankle boots! And bingo you are transiting to fall.

Wear burgundy: One of the key colors for fall year after year is oxblood. Ever year once I hear that Starbucks has finally releasing the seasonal drink pumpkin spice latte, I immediately crave the color. So if it’s 80+ degrees outside and you’re stumped as what to wear when you’re so over your summer wardrobe, go for a dose of burgundy in any form.

Layer in a appropriate fashion: That long sheer chiffon shirt that's kind of hard to wear will certainly come in handy when the weather starts to turn... Dig it out of the back of your closet to cover up. These kimono jackets are perfect to pear with shorts or jeans and can late be worn with leggings. Definitely a must have items!

What fashion items or trends do you focus on while transiting into fall??
