Drop Waist Skirt

One of my new favorite black skirts is this Collective Concept skirt from Nordstrom. In the past I have had a fear of fashion styles that are associated with being low, such as low rise jeans and drop crotch pants. But this item will now break my fear. Not only do I adore this skirt but I also now own a few styles of drop waist clothing.

This silhouette is a throwback from the 1920s and is known for the longer bodice section with a shorter skirt. Wearing this silhouette is very versatile, I have paired this skirt previously with a blazer and heels (see here), or you can go a little more casual with a sweater.

The only concern with wearing a drop waist item is the body type issue. For someone who does not have a long torso or is short, a drop waist might make them look shorter. This is why I normally wear heels with this skirt. If that’s not what you’re going for, try on different sizes to achieve the look you want.

Here is my more casual way of wearing this skirt:

Sweater: Vince Camuto, Nordstrom (Similar Here)
Skirt: Collective concept, Nordstrom (Get Here)
Watch: Micheal Kors, Nordstrom (Get Here)
Necklace: Mixed
Hair Bow: Claires (Similar Here)
Shoes: Sam Edelman, Nordstrom (Get Here)

Are you a fan of the Drop Waist dress or skirt??
